Pipe Data

FLEXIM provides process instrumentation solutions for all branches of industry. They are focused on non-intrusive flow measurement and inline process analysis.

Innovative Technologies

FLEXIM has become known for its cutting edge engineering and high quality ultrasonic flow meters.

How does it work?

The transit-time difference method

The transit-time difference method exploits the fact that the transmission speed of an ultrasonic signal depends on the flow velocity of the carrier medium; similar to a swimmer swimming against the current, an ultrasonic signal moves slower against the flow direction of the medium than when in flow direction.

For the measurement, two ultrasonic pulses are sent through the medium, one in flow direction, and a second one against it. The transducers are alternatively working as emitter and receiver.

The transit time of the ultrasonic signal propagating in flow direction is shorter than the transit time of the signal propagating against flow direction. The transit-time difference Δt is measured and allows the determination of the average flow velocity on the propagation path of the ultrasonic signals. A profile correction is performed to obtain the average flow velocity on the cross-section of the pipe, which is proportional to the volume flow.

Since ultrasounds propagate in solids, the transducers can be mounted onto the pipe. The measurement is therefore non-invasive, and no cutting of pipes is necessary for the installation of the transducers.

Products
FLUXUS® F601 The portable flow meter

Portable ultrasonic flowmeter

The battery-powered ultrasonic flow meter FLUXUS® F601 is an ideal tool for service work and quick control measurements. Its clamp-on flow transducers are simply mounted onto the pipe from the outside and are quickly installed, without process interruption.

The measurement is pressure independent and can take place on pipes of almost any materials and on almost any liquid. Transducers are available for pipe diameters from 1/4 Inch to 20 Feet and for temperatures ranging from -40°F to 750°F. Two pairs of transducers usually are enough for standard applications. FLUXUS F601 is highly flexible and can be used on the most various applications on totally different measuring points.

With FLUXUS® F601, flow control is a matter of a few minutes. To start the measurement, you only have to mount the transducers on the pipe, enter the pipe and medium parameters and adjust the distance between the transducers as indicated by the electronic unit. Unlike other Transit Time Meters, No zeroing procedure is necessary since all transducer pairs are factory calibrated and the calibration data is permanently stored in the transducers themselves. The user interface is always automatically adapted to the connected transducers via Plug-n-Play technology.

FLUXUS® F601 has been engineered for the harsh conditions of industrial installations. Its housing is water and dust tight and resistant against oil, many liquids and dirt. The meter and its many accessories are housed in a sturdy waterproof carrying case.

Advanced battery management and Lithium ions battery in the F601 allows for more than 14 hours of battery-powered measurement.

Beside the standard version, F601 can also be delivered with a wider range of signal inputs and outputs such as the Energy version with high precision temperature probes making the energy measurement more powerful than ever.

FLUXUS® ADM 7407 The versatile flow meter

Dedicated ultrasonic flowmeters

FLUXUS® ADM 7407 is an ultrasonic flow meter for permanent installation. Its clamp-on flow transducers are simply mounted onto the pipe from the outside and are quickly installed, without process interruption and without production stop.

Since the flow meters' transducers are not in contact with the medium to be measured, they are not submitted to wear and tear. The measurement is pressure independent and can take place on pipes of almost any materials and on almost any liquid. The flow meter is ideal for harsh chemicals.

Thanks to its exceptional dual-microprocessor technology, high number of measuring cycles per second and adaptive signal processing, FLUXUS® ADM 7407 produces stable and reliable measuring results even under difficult conditions.

No zeroing procedure is necessary at the commissioning since all transducer pairs are factory calibrated and the calibration data is permanently stored in the transducers themselves.

An extended status display helps the user to judge the measuring situation and current measuring precision directly during the measurement.

FLUXUS ADM 7407 is delivered with with one or two flow measurement channels. Additionally, it can be equipped with various outputs and up to 4 process inputs. The input quantities (e.g. temperature or pressure) can be used by the flowmeter together with the measured flow for the calculation of further quantities: energy, mass flow, etc.

FLUXUS® ADM 5107 The water and waste water flow meter

Water flowmeters

The ultrasonic flow meter for permanent installations.  The FLUXUS ® ADM 5107 was designed for the needs of the water- and wastewater industry.

The flow meter's watertight transducers are small and practical, watertight and equipped with rugged integrated cables. Thanks to the clamp-on technology, no cutting or welding work is needed to mount the transducers on the pipe. They are thus installed very quickly.

The flow meter's user interface is automatically adapted to the connected transducers. No zeroing is necessary. Water is pre-selected as the medium, it's physical properties are stored in the flowmeter's memory.

In most cases, you only have to enter the pipe's outer diameter and wall thickness as well as the water temperature in order to start the measurement. Start-up is reduced to a minimum.
